Aspirations: When I was 14 I created a list of goals that if I were to achieve in my lifetime, I’d feel accomplished. With being paid to act, performing in New York on stage in front of a paying audience, and starring in a full length film that people eventually will pay to see is out of the way, my only acting related goal I set for myself left is to continue to do what I love to do for as long as it makes me happy. I don’t desire fame, just to work consistently and bring people’s stories to life.
Why She Loves Acting: My first time on stage was when I was 9 years old. I was casted in a Christmas show as one of the children and asked to do a dance number. Our opening audience was 1300 people. I wasn’t nervous. That’s how my parents knew I was where I was meant to be. But the rush I felt, the excitement when the lights went up…I felt very alive. The ability to take people out of whatever place they are in their lives- happy, sad, upper/middle/lower class, lawyers, postal workers, nurses, mothers, children, etc - and bring them to place where they are on the same plane…then entertain them for 2 hours or so is something I feel privileged to be a part of and still get thrilled about. This is an opportunity to create and display live art. Someone’s story waiting to be told, someone’s words waiting to be spoken. I love to discover things about these other people I portray because more often than not, I find these characters and I share many things in common, which helps me to become more aware of myself.
